Professional Background
Ed is a Director with Artesient and brings more than 25 years of experience serving industries navigating significant and disruptive change including healthcare, financial services and telecommunications.  His clients typically require significant strategy, process and technology transformations and have drawn on his expertise in process redesign, package-based technology implementations, project/program management and key areas of health plan operations.

Ed has extensive experience in developing customer facing process and system solutions; enhancing the efficiency of back-office functions; owning the full lifecycle of major process and system implementations; and providing advisory services to executive leadership.

Prior to Artesient, Ed served as Director, Product Engineering at Blue Shield of California and was a Partner in the Technology Integration practice at Deloitte Consulting.  He has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of San Francisco and is a seasoned speaker and industry contributor.

Notable Work Experience
  • For a large health plan, Ed led a multi-year project to redesign and automate the product development and management processes for group, individual and specialty lines of business using a new-to-market software product selected by the client.  This complex effort required parallel threads of project delivery and live production activity as the system was being built-out just in advance of product portfolio conversion and launch (in production)
  • At a national health plan, Ed led the development and successful production implementation of an image-based work management system for membership, collections and employee self-service functions.  These deployments included the redesign of member enrollment processes,  enhancement of collection practices for out-of-network claims, and introduction of new employee self-service HR administration capabilities (in production)
  • At a large healthcare firm, Ed led the planning, requirements definition, and pilot system delivery to enhance claims handling for a high-service line of business by redesigning processes and implementing document management and workflow automation technologies
  • At a diversified financial services firm, Ed led a technology and process transformation effort for a $20MM service center that resulted in a 50% reduction in operating costs (in production)
  • Ed has also provided analytical and executive advisory services to multiple industry clients on IT portfolio strategy and alignment, project assessment and turnaround planning, operations analysis and process improvement, and growth planning
